The Denver Health Paramedics EMS Education Department is a state of Colorado approved EMS Education Center.

The ACLS course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, and paramedics, as well as others who need an ACLS course completion card for job or other requirements.

Providers who take ACLS must be proficient in performing high-quality BLS skills through the use of the 2020 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC, reading and interpreting electrocardiograms (ECGs), understanding ACLS drugs, and bag-mask ventilations.

Students wishing to also receive their BLS re-certification must purchase the $37 add-on with registration.  This optional addition allows students to stay after the course and complete the BLS Skills Check component which compliments the online HeartCode BLS course.  Students must complete the online HeartCode BLS prior to the course, and present their online certificate of completion on the day of class.  You will receive a separate email with your HeartCode BLS online course link.

 

This course is designed to teach the students the skill of basic ECG interpretation. The content provided in this course focuses on the essential information you need to know to interpret ECGs and understand their significance. This is an excellent course for all individuals pursuing a career in medicine.

This American Heart Association CPR course provides medical level certification for those employed in the medical field. This course is ideal for physicians, nurses, respiratory, physical and occupational therapists, firefighters / EMS, CNA’s or anyone going to school for a medical related occupation.  This course is good for first time certification OR currently certified/expired healthcare providers.

Course content includes:

• High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
• Use of an AED
• Effective ventilations using a barrier device
• Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
• Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certificate valid for two years.

The price of this course includes the mandatory textbook.

 

This boot camp is for Coursera "Become an EMT!" online students. You must have successfully completed and passed the online portion of this class prior to registering for the skills boot camp. Students certified as an EMT in the State of Colorado are permitted to perform limited intravenous therapy under medical direction following successful completion of the course. The class includes 32 hours of classroom and lab training followed by in-hospital clinical experience with a minimum of 10 successful IV starts. In-hospital clinical must be completed within 7 days of the last day of class.

The PALS course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children.  This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, and others, who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.

Before taking PALS, students should have a mastery of infant and child BLS skills.  They should also be able to recognize various heart rhythms, be familiar with different types of airway management tools and their use, and have knowledge of the drugs commonly used  to treat cardiovascular irregularities.
